Not only that, but the Ramshead Express Quad opens for the season starting this weekend as well, with both our Snowshed and Ramshead lifts operating until 6:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. MOUNTAIN REPORT

Capital Improvements Update

As we continue through our second summer under independent ownership, the future has never been brighter here at The Beast. After completing a winter filled with $40 million worth of capital improvements, from the new Superstar Six to 1000+ new low-energy snowguns and much more, we’re not stopping there. This summer, our independent ownership group is committing another $25 million, up from our previously announced total of $22 million, towards a whole host of new upgrades that we’ll see this summer and beyond.

Besides our ongoing work on the new Snowdon Quad, we’re also upgrading the Jerk Jamaican Mountain Grill to the new Needle’s Eye Lodge and investing even more into our snowmaking infrastructure as well as lift maintenance projects. Over at Pico Mountain, we’re installing a temporary rope tow to provide access to the Outpost area for winter 2026-27 before installing a new chairlift to replace the Outpost Double ahead of winter 2027-28, Pico’s 90th anniversary. Guests will see the results of many upgrades already this summer, including our new trail crusher, Bike Park trail additions, new Adventure Center attractions, and more. We certainly can’t cover every detail here, so check out the full story on what’s to come in our Insider Blog.

Upgrades in Our Bike Park

As we’ve mentioned, some capital improvements are already ongoing and will be here before you know it. We’ve enlisted some third-party trail building help on Ramshead to lighten the load on our dedicated Trail Crew, and the results are already showing. Lower Black Magic will be open for Ramshead’s opening weekend, and we’re aiming to have all of Blue Magic and Black Magic ready around early July. Soon enough, Trail Crew will be able to utilize our incoming trail crusher, a remote-controlled machine that efficiently and cleanly assists with their everyday trail work. We’re even breaking ground on new trails and features this summer, including a blue, single-track hybrid trail that will be accessible from Middle Blue Magic, as well as a dual slalom course and a jump line near the Ramshead base area. Stay tuned to our Bike Park Instagram page for all the latest!

Governor Phil Scott Visits The Beast

Finally, our own K-1 Lodge played host to a special visitor this past Friday, as Vermont Governor Phil Scott stopped by as part of his Capital for a Day initiative. The day started with a presentation from our own Mike Solimano on all the recent happenings at our resort, covering everything from our independent ownership model to many of the same capital improvements we’ve talked about right here. Governor Scott then held a meeting with members of his cabinet before they later made their way to over a dozen different locations around Rutland County. Before taking off, the governor did get a chance to do something not many people get the chance to do: drive a grooming tractor on the remnants of our Superstar Glacier. You can read the full story of the visit in our latest Insider Blog.

See you on the trails!
