We hope you’re getting excited for your upcoming Killington Mountain Bike Camp session! We want to make sure you’re ready with all the proper gear to have the best time possible, so we’ve put together the answers to common questions on what you’ll need.
Padding and protection. Killington bike campers need to wear a full-face helmet with eye protection (goggles or glasses), gloves, elbow pads, and kneepads. If you are renting from us, you will still need to provide your own gloves and eye protection. All other safety equipment comes with your rental purchase. If you have additional protection equipment you prefer to wear such as shin and shoulder guards, you are welcome to bring it.
What to wear. Dress comfortably and ready to get dirty. Mountain weather and temperatures fluctuate so you’ll want to be prepared. It is a great idea to pack rain gear and a change of clothes every day. We plan to ride in all weather conditions unless the lift closes due to a thunder and lightning storm.
Don’t forget to bring a water bottle. Proper hydration is key to having a good time!
Please label all your camper’s gear. There is a limited selection of youth mountain bike gear and much of it looks alike, so putting a name and phone number on any personal gear is a must.
Equipment Storage. We will have space to store personal and rental bikes in a separate camp storage spot. This area is locked daily at 4:30 p.m., so if you plan to ride after camp and wish to store your bike in the camp shop, you will need to be in by 4:30. There will also be space to leave helmets, pads, etc.
First Day Check-in. Check-in will begin at 8:45 a.m. Be sure to check here for your bike camp session meeting location.
If you bring your own bike on the first day of camp, please put it in a rack in the base lodge courtyard and proceed to check-in. Make sure your camper knows which bike is theirs!
If you are renting a bike at the resort, proceed directly to check-in. We recommend purchasing our daily comprehensive damage waiver for all of our Killington rental bikes. You can easily add this protection by calling Central Reservations at 800-621-6867.

Lunch. A midday meal is included with camp. You can indicate any dietary restrictions your camper has on the camp registration form, which you should complete as soon as possible if you have not already. We can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, dairy free, nut free and gluten free options, but please be aware that all our foods are made in a common kitchen, and cross contamination is possible. We encourage families to bring their own meals if they have specific dietary restrictions or needs outside of vegetarian requests.
Camp Groupings. Groups are formed considering the current skill level, goals for the week, and ages of the campers. We do our best to accommodate campers riding with their friends, but balance skill development and the level of challenge in a group. If two friends want to ride together, they will need to ride in the group with the lower-level rider. It is best to know about friend groupings before camp starts, and you can let us know by replying to this email. Groups range from 4-8 campers, and we do our best to keep them consistent throughout the entire week.
Parent Check-ins. During the day, our camp space is a parent-free zone. Please do not enter the camp room during the day to check in on your camper. If you are looking to say hello, please let a staff member know, and we will bring your child out to say hi. We open the camp room at 3:30 p.m. for any parents to help grab their camper's gear and check-out at the end of the day.
Self-Release Policy. Many bike campers are old enough and families feel comfortable allowing them to self-release at the end of the day. This means no adult needs be present at the end of the day for the camper to leave camp. Only campers 16 years old and older are eligible for self-release. All campers must spend the entire day with their camp groups and may not leave early. After 4:00 p.m., they are allowed to dismiss themselves from camp. If you would like to allow your child to self-release, please complete the self-release form. If you have any questions, please email us or ask someone at camp check-in.
If you have any questions please send us an email.
We will see you soon!
