Time to hit the deck, Beast fans!

Daily Superstar laps are officially full steam ahead, and the Superstar Glacier is up for the challenge. The calendar says we’re firmly into Umbrella Bar season, but Mother Nature has been keeping things feeling pretty wintry for the time being. We got a couple inches of snow at the beginning of the week, but we're due for plenty of sun and higher temps this weekend for bump skiing galore. And for our park skiers & riders, our kparks crew couldn’t let us go one single day without a park offering, so they put together five features in Skyehawk that we’ll keep alive as long as conditions allow.

 

This Saturday, April 25th brings along the return of Decked Out Days, our yearly springtime deck party at the new & improved Superstar Umbrella Bar. Along with the Superstar Six spinning until 5:00 p.m., we’ll have a live set from Vermont’s own DJ Benny Shreds, plus games and giveaways courtesy of our friends at NÜTRL. And we encourage everyone to dress their best—the theme for this Saturday is retro, so break out your finest 70s and 80s themed attire for your chance to be crowned best dressed and win yourself a prize. If your legs need a break from the moguls this Saturday afternoon, make sure to take a break and come get Decked Out.

Looking a bit further ahead, we’re hosting the first-ever Superstar Showdown on Saturday, May 16th, the event that looks to answer one question: who is the most die-hard skier or rider in the East? In partnership with the Jim & Mads Show, we’ll be handing out $1,000 in cash and either new skis or a snowboard to the male and female participant who record the most vert during the day in the Killington app. The competition is currently full but our waitlist is open, with all registration proceeds being donated to the Mt. Holly Conservation Trust along with a matching donation from the Killington Giving Fund. If you didn’t snag one of the limited spots but are still planning to lap Superstar at your own pace, don’t worry—the planning of this event was predicated on the safety of our guests being our top priority, no matter what. Our zero-tolerance safety plan includes a pre-event meeting, designated rest areas on hill, and the use of bibs that serve as participant identifiers for all staff overseeing the event. Competitors that put the safety of any guest in jeopardy will be promptly removed from the competition and subject to further action.

 

For those of you looking to see how some new gear may stand up to Superstar’s famous spring terrain, time is running out on our best demo deal of the year. From now through May 3rd, Beast 365, Unlimited, and Midweek Pass holders can receive 50% off our usual daily demo rate, plus the ability to apply that cost towards purchasing the demo skis or snowboard. This discount can only be applied in person, so head down to our rental shop in K-1 to learn more. 

Lastly, a valued member of our community is calling it a career after 40+ years in the hospitality industry capped off by 21 years here at Killington Resort. Sharon Mayer, our longtime Conference & Wedding Coordinator, is officially retiring this week, following her retirement party at the Grand Hotel last week. As the facilitator of countless weddings and events through her time here and with the Killington Pico Area Association, Sharon had a great impact on this community, and we wish her all the best in her post-career endeavors.
